Chem 101 Online Exp: Gravimetric Analysis
First read the Gravimetric
Analysis experiment in the
Chem 101 lab manual.
Focus on the Introduction, Treatment of Results, and Sample Problems. A quick read of the Procedure is sufficient, as you are not performing the actual experiment. The last column of Table 4.1 (% Water) must be completed as mentioned in the Pre-Lab Preparation section of the experiment.
Then watch the four videos for this experiment.
Please watch them in the order of: (1) PreLab Talk, (2) Bunsen Burner Technique, (3) The Experiment, and (4) Calculations.

When finished with the videos, you will need to obtain the lab report sheet and your raw data. Then perform calculations and submit your completed report.
Finally, you will need to take the ONLINE QUIZ using eLearn. Check in eLearn to see when it closes for your lab section.

The lab report sheet can be completed either in electronic or paper-hardcopy format. Please follow your lab instructor's own preference. A paper hardcopy of this report sheet may have already been given to you during a previous in-lab session at Capilano University. Data Obtain your raw data by clicking on your lab section/group. Desicooler number is not required.

Submission of Completed Lab
Report Please submit your completed lab report in the manner and time specified by your lab instructor. This could require handing in the paper report sheet in person at your next in-lab session at Capilano University, or submitting it in person at the drop-box in the hallway outside of the lab room by a certain deadline. For the electronic format, you could be requested to submit via email or Moodle or the eLearn website. If unsure, please email your lab instructor for guidance. |
