Chem 110 & 154 Titrimetric (Volumetric) Analysis

The following videos should be viewed as part of your preparation for the Titrimetric Analysis experiment.  All videos are available in full HD quality and can be viewed in full screen.

If you have not already done so, you should watch the previous videos associated with the Orientation Lab Session and the Gravimetric Analysis experiment since some of the techniques covered in those labs are also applicable to the Titrimetric Analysis experiment.

Tutorials relating to selected study guide problems and treatment of results can be accessed here: Instructiona Tutorials Link

Burette Cleaning (4:17) - View before Exp 2.1

This video applies to both experiments on Titrimetric Analysis. Before any analytical procedure involving a titration, the chemist must ensure that the burette is scrupulously clean. This video shows how this can be done both quickly and effectively.

The Volumetric Pipette (5:46) - View before Exp 2.1

This video applies to both experiments on Titrimetric Analysis. See a demonstration of how to prepare and use a volumetric pipette in the chemistry lab.

Titrimetric Analysis (10:17) - View before Exp 2.1

This video applies to both experiments on Titrimetric Analysis. Take a close look at the proper techniques to be used when conducting a titration. Only by following the prescribed techniques, can the chemist be assured of precise results.

Preparation of a Standard Solution (7:23) - View before Exp 2.2

This video applies to the second experiment on Titrimetric Analysis, Determination of Molar Mass of an Unknown Acid. Titrations often involve the preparation and use of a standard solution; a solution of precisely-known concentration. By following the prescribed techniques shown in this video, the chemist can be assured of an accurate result.
